Paris by Night

The city is floodlit throughout the year from nightfall (between 5.15pm and 9.20pm) and midnight Sundays to Fridays and to 1am on Saturdays, the eve of bank holidays and during the summer months. The fountains are turned off from 1 January to 1 April to safeguard against frost.

Meanwhile, in the back alleys and older districts of the city, street lights suffuse the buildings and blindfolded shop-windows with a strange stillness.
